Africa-Press – Cape verde. Artisan Beto Diogo is on the island of Fogo to provide, until the next 24th, art training aimed at women. This training/exhibition is part of the activities of “March, Women’s Month” and takes place at the Sete Sóis Sete Luas space, in São Filipe.

Craftsman Beto Diogo is on the island of Fogo, where he has carried out various activities related to crafts and culture. All thanks to a partnership protocol signed between the craftsman and the City Council of São Filipe, as reported to A NAÇÃO online.

The exhibition “Feminine Art” runs until this Friday, the 24th, and is part of the activities of “March, Women’s Month”.

According to the craftsman, the objective is “to give more visibility to women using art as a tool to project them”.

So far, five women have participated, but it hopes to have more participants this week, given the importance of training/exhibition.

Fashion Week in space Sete Sóis Sete Luas

It should be noted that a fashion week was held at the Sete Sóis Sete Luas space , an initiative that applauds.

“Fashion week was very good, we had around 15 models on the runway with fashion creations by stylist Helena Varela, who came from the city of Praia, exclusively for the event. We had a full house, really crowded, so I believe the balance is very good ”she explained.

Following the event, the craftsman believes that membership shows the need to hold more cultural events of this type on the island.

“The success of our event exposes the need to have more events of this type in Fogo, the city council has a good dynamic and, together, I believe that we can do much more for culture, in general”.

Creative residence on the island of Fogo

Beto Diogo also advanced that between the 27th of April and the 4th of May, a creative residency will take place on the island of the volcano, with the participation of artisans from the islands of São Vicente, Santiago and Boavista.

“From the indicators we have, the expectation is that this creative residency will bear many good results”, he says.

Protocol with the Municipality of São Filipe

Beto Diogo has been on the island of Fogo for two months, the result of a protocol signed between the Beto Diogo atelier and the Municipality of São Filipe to boost culture in the municipality.

“The signed protocol lasts for six months, is renewable and the aim is to boost culture in the municipality, from crafts to capoeira”, explains the craftsman.
