
Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia, inaugurated this Saturday, January 6th, the first phase of the Cosec Hotel building in the city of Cova Figueira, municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo.
The Cosec Hotel building, located close to the Paços do Concelho building of Santa Catarina do Fogo, is a type of shopping center and is also important for the hotel sector, according to the businessman and promoter of this initiative, André Fonseca, known in the municipality from Santa Catarina, where he is from, by Tony.
Speaking to Inforpress, André Fonseca said that in this first phase, which will be inaugurated today by Olavo Correia, the building comprises six bedrooms, three large commercial areas, lounge and restaurant, swimming pool and surrounding area, sanitary facilities and kiosks.
In total, he explained that the hotel has 36 rooms, with the construction of the other 30 rooms for the second phase.
According to the businessman, overall, the Cosec Hotel building represents an investment of around 90 thousand contos.
André Fonseca explained that the project was born from the existing business opportunity, but also from the need of the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo and more specifically the city of Cova Figueira to have a good space for accommodation and spaces for business and the search for spaces for installation of State institutions.
According to him, one of the commercial areas will be occupied to install the Registry Office, which currently operates in a space that is not very suitable.
“It is also a way of guaranteeing employment and boosting the tourism sector in the city of Cova Figueira, which does not yet have a real hotel”, said the businessman.
Asked if it is not a risk to invest large amounts in this area and in the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo, André Fonseca replied that “everything is risky”, but that it is necessary to innovate and experiment, adding that it is not just a hotel, but a a type of shopping center with commercial areas to meet the current and future needs of the municipality.
