Africa-Press – Cape verde. Filipe Santos, the national MP elected on the MpD list for the Fogo constituency, is making a working visit to the island today and Saturday to closely assess the impacts of the recent rains and agricultural conditions.
The main objective is to gather detailed information about agricultural conditions, pest-related issues, the measures adopted by the government and local councils to respond to these situations, as well as to find out about housing conditions and the damage caused to roads.
In a press release announcing the visit, the deputy of MpD emphasised that this initiative comes in response to the many requests from people on the island, whether through social media or by telephone, stressing that the voices of people “concerned” about the challenges facing families have not gone unnoticed in recent days.
“Many families face serious problems, including the imminent risk posed by the roofs of houses in precarious conditions that could cave in at any moment,” said the press release, emphasising that during the visit the parliamentarian will meet with community leaders, farmers, a delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, municipal authorities and other relevant members of civil society.
