Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Belo Horizonte team won the São Nicolau Super Cup in football today, beating AJAT-SN, 2-1, in a game held at the Orlando Rodrigues Stadium, in Tarrafal.
The game, which opened the 2023/2024 football season in São Nicolau, and which brought a large crowd to the stadium, was played between the defending regional champion team, Belo Horizonte, the holder of the São Nicolau Cup, AJAT-SN.
The game was played at a high pace with both teams showing a desire to win, however, the AJAT-SN team showed a slight rise in the first half, in which they opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, a goal scored by midfielder Riky, a result at halftime.
The second half started at the same pace as the teams went into the break, however, in the 58th minute, the AJAT-SN goalkeeper was sent off for playing the ball with his hands outside the penalty area.
Even with an extra man, Juncalinho’s team was unable to demonstrate superiority to their opponent, but when everything predicted victory for the AJAT-SN team, in added time, at 90+2, of the six awarded by the referee, the forward Cadi tied the match.
With the goal scored, Belo Horizonte gained new energy and, in the 90+4 minute, Salvio sentenced the game by scoring the 2-1 and sending the fans of the Juncalinho team into delirium, who were present in good numbers at the stadium.
At the end of the match, Belo Horizonte’s coach, Dionizio Rodrigues, was satisfied with winning the unprecedented title and stated that his team was a “fair winner”.
The coach of the AJAT-SN team, Airton Pereira, had a contrary opinion, who stated that his team played “a great game” and was the only one that deserved to win. The Week with Inforpress
