Africa-Press – Cape verde. All donations sent to populations affected by the August 11th rains will now be cleared through customs without payment, provided they are sent to eligible entities, the National Directorate of State Revenue (DNRE) announced today.
This measure is part of the activation of the customs exemption regime (Article 197 of Decree-Law No. 23/2014, of April 2nd).
The DNRE explained that individuals who are victims of the disaster may benefit from customs exemption on shipments and donations intended for them, provided they have a declaration issued by one of the competent authorities proving this status.
Eligible entities to which donations can be sent include Public Entities and Associations recognized as public utilities. Legally constituted community associations, as well as associations with public and well-known recognition for their social, sporting, cultural, philanthropic, and humanitarian activities, are subject to an exception.
