Africa-Press – Cape verde. Professor Frutuoso Carvalho launched, on Friday, in Praia, his first fiction book, entitled “Mother, your blessing!” The work portrays the evolution of the character, in honor of the deceased mother.
“This book is born from an inspiration, and I want to dedicate it to my late mother. In the title itself there is the word mother, which is too big and expensive for me. A mother is a parent, she is the source of life, it is where everything is born, so it is an expression of gratitude on my part”, said the author.
Frutuoso Furtado, who was speaking to Inforpress, said that the word blessing has a biblical meaning and that during childhood he asked his parents and elders for blessings, precisely to guide, guide, advise on the good paths and wish success in the future life of the younger ones. new.
As he advanced, the work takes place in three spaces, with a lot of meaning in his life. The first, the town of Pedra Badejo, the city where he was born, spent his entire childhood, attended primary school and made friends and has his umbilical cord.
“From fourth grade onwards, I was forced to go to Praia to continue my studies at the then Liceu Adriano Moreira. So, Praia is a space of transformation, of a lot of learning (…) in my youth”, he explained.
The second space has to do with Havana, in Cuba, where he was a teacher, on the island of Youth and became “more and more adult”.
“It is curious to say that I went to visit Cape Verde in Cuba, because there were students from all the islands in the country, where we gathered, rehearsed cultural pieces from their respective islands and municipalities, so it was a multicultural experience and the island of Youth was really a space for cultural diversity, because there were more than 90 nationalities there, they live together, with one eye on the book and the other on the future”, he added.
On the other hand, he stated that the work has to do with the character’s own evolution, that is, childhood, youth and adulthood, where he held positions related to education, politics and among others.

Frutuoso Assunção Lopes de Carvalho was born in the parish of Santiago Maior, Pedra Badejo, municipality of Santa Cruz, on February 6, 1959.
He graduated in Sociology from the University of Havana, Cuba, in 1991, having presented the end-of-course monograph with the theme “The teaching process in teaching and learning at secondary level – Challenges for its improvement”.
He participated in the academic days in Havana with the scientific work entitled “Oratory Art in Amílcar Cabral”.
