Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government of Cape Verde today condemned the coup d’état perpetrated in Burkina Faso, on the 30th of September, and appealed to the authorities to avoid an eventual escalation of violence and to favor dialogue.

“ Cape Verde reiterates its strong condemnation of any act of taking power by force and underlines the need for the military authorities to respect the transition schedule, approved by the ECOWAS Summit on 3 July this year, which provides for a return to constitutional order until July 1, 2024”, the Government positioned itself in a press release released this Monday.

Furthermore, the Cape Verdean Executive appeals to the authorities to do everything possible to avoid an eventual escalation of violence and to favor the path of dialogue to resolve the disputes that exist.

Stability

This, he said, is so that Burkina Faso can regain the stability that is so necessary for efforts to ensure security for its populations.

Burkina Faso faced, this Saturday, the second coup d’état suffered this year.

Military personnel led by Ibrahim Traoré allege that Paul-Henri Damiba failed to combat jihadist attacks in the country.

In January, Damiba assumed leadership of the country of 16 million people, after accusing President-elect Roch Marc Christian Kabore of failing to defeat the jihadists.
