Government expects “definitive answer” from David Chow on continuity of “Djeu” project

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Prime Minister said this Wednesday that the Government is waiting for a definitive response from investor David Chow regarding the continuity of construction of the large tourist resort on Gamboa beach and islet from Santa Maria.

In conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the presentation of the national poverty reduction strategy, Ulisses Correia e Silva, when approached about the “Djeu” project, whose works paralyzed for a long time, said that there is a commitment so that the situation cannot continue as it is at this moment.

“The work has to be done. There is a commitment, a contract, an establishment agreement, there is a concession and we cannot continue with the situation we are in now. The businessman, the investor, has already been contacted and we hope that there will be a response so that we can get out of this impasse”, he declared.

Ulisses Correia e Silva confirmed that the investor had been asking for extensions of time that were granted at some point, taking into account the external situation of the pandemic and other situations that ended up creating difficulties, but he added that the Government was now waiting for a definitive answer regarding the continuity of project execution.
