Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Culture said Sunday that the Cidade Velha has become a small urban centre and is witness to the “historical grandeur” of the Cabo Verdean Nation, which has received several investments to make it a point of reference.
Abraão Vicente, who is also president of the Unesco National Commission for Cabo Verde, made these statements in a message on another anniversary of the elevation of the Cidade Velha to World Heritage, which is celebrated on June 26.
“Today we celebrate another anniversary of the elevation of the Cidade Velha to World Heritage. Our historical site, cradle of the Cabo Verdean nation, where the history and future of our country began to be designed, an archipelago discovered by navigators that later, due to its characteristics, became a small urban centre, is today the witness to the historical grandeur”, he stated.
According to the Minister, the Cidade Velha has become a grandeur which has deserved investment by successive Governments in Cabo Verde, in order to preserve and value this legacy that belongs to all Cabo Verdeans, residents and in the Diaspora, but also to all humanity.
