Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government will acquire 11 electric cars as published today in the Official Gazette (BO). The resolution authorizes the Ministry of Finance to carry out the said expenditure, through a restricted tender procedure.

According to the same source, the financial resources for the purchase of vehicles are guaranteed by the Directorate General of the Treasury through financial leasing for a period of five years, with a maximum monthly income of one million three hundred thousand escudos.

The document recalls that, in 2019, the Electric Mobility Charter had been approved, with the aim of establishing the strategic vision and adoption of measures to promote and accelerate the transition to the use of 100% electric vehicles in the country, replacing of thermal vehicles powered by fossil fuels.

100% electric cars in public administration

In this context, the full replacement of all vehicles equipped with thermal engines for electric vehicles is expected by 2050, and the Public Administration’s goal is to have a fleet of 100% of electric vehicles in 2030, a measure that is adopted, subject to the due authorization of the Council of Ministers.

“Thus, by resolution no. 01/UGAC/ DGPOG/MF/2021, of October, to comply with the provisions of the aforementioned Resolution”, explains the BO

However, the document advances, despite the fact that the procedure regarding the tender had run through all its normal procedures and without any constraints until the date of signature of the contract, the failure to comply with the requirements defined in the procedure documents and in the contractual terms, determined the resolution, in legal terms of the contract.

The resolution enters into force this Thursday, May 5th.
