
Africa-Press – Cape verde. The senior men’s handball team from Cape Verde, this afternoon, beat Nigeria, by 35-29, in the debut game counting for the first round of group C of the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2022) taking place in Cairo, Egypt.
With this victory, Cape Verde qualifies for the quarter-finals of the 25th edition of the African Cup of Nations since, yesterday, Monday, 11th, Tunisia beat Nigeria by 30-18, in the opening game of the C group. Cabo Verde returns to the field tomorrow, Wednesday, 13th, this time against Tunisia, a match that will define first place in group C.
CAN’2022 will be played until the 18th in Egypt with the participation of 14 African teams. The Cape Verde team has been in Egypt since Saturday, 9, after 36 hours of flight, with a stopover in Morocco, where it was held for 17 hours at Casablanca airport. Their debut on the field took place this afternoon against Nigeria.
