Africa-Press – Cape verde. Leandro Semedo, Cape Verdean international handball player, vice-champion of Africa and elected the best center in the CAN’2023 modality is the first reinforcement of Sport Lisboa e Benfica (Portugal) for the new season. He signed for two years.
Benfica announced this Wednesday, 28th, the hiring of the captain of the Cape Verde handball team.
The two-year contract marks Leandro Semedo’s return to Portuguese handball, since, between 2014 and 2019, he represented the first team at FC Porto.

In the last three seasons, the Cape Verdean spent one season at Helvetia Anaitasuna and two at Ademar León, from Spain.
“I have been a Benfica fan since I was little. I am Cape Verdean, I am a warrior. I will always give 200% on the pitch to win every game”, he assured, in statements to the official media of the club da Luz.
Leandro Semedo becomes the second Cape Verdean international footballer to represent Benfica in the new season, as another Cape Verdean, Paulo Moreno, captain of the eagles, resides in the club of Luz.
