Africa-Press – Cape verde. The head of the Neonatology Service at the University Hospital Agostinho Neto (HUAN) today highlighted the gains recorded in ten years, assuring that the goal is to “work increasingly”to reduce the mortality rate children in the country.
António Cruz stated these words to the press, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the 1st National Congress of Neonatology, under the topic “Impact of the service in reducing infant mortality in Cabo Verde”, held today in Praia.
According to him the event, aimed to promote a space for debate and sharing of knowledge related to the subject, as a way to improve the care provided to new burns, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The HAN Neonatology Service, he recalled, was set up around ten years ago and has provided assistance to all newborns in which born in the hospital, whether or not they belong to the area of influence of the Sotavento region.
