Africa-Press – Cape verde. Hélder Tavares Dias is an electrician who became an entrepreneur because he wanted to be his own boss, creating tDCS, Electricity, Telecommunications, Climatization and Plumbing. Born in Assomada, Santa Catarina, this 30-year-old young man experiences the challenges of an entrepreneur in practice and discovers a new passion to face them – karate.
Hélder Dias graduated in electricity level 3, in 2008, to later, at the time of opening his company in 2018, do another training in air conditioning at the Center for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI).
An idea that gained wings
Most young people study with the dream of finding a job in the training area and being able to practice the profession in the best way. Hélder Dias, our interviewee, always wanted more than that. That is, early on he decided that he should have his own business and be the head of his own head. The problem was how and when is the best time to materialize this idea?
“One day, while we were working, a colleague of mine, from the group with whom I always discussed starting a company, asked me if I wasn’t tired of working with other people and being my own boss, since then everyone started to talk to me. encourage, recognizing my potential”, he says.
“I always said that as soon as I got my first job I would leave the company where I worked, it was a risk, but I had already made that decision”.
After six months of opening ETCC (Electricity, Telecommunications, Climatization and Plumbing), its first work was approved and with it the long-awaited moment of being the electrician and entrepreneur.
The challenges
Today, Hélder Dias employs two collaborators and accepts interns from CERMI, the house that formed him and of which he has the best memories. This is the case of Aquilino Pereira, a refrigeration and air conditioning technician, one of the ETCC workers for three months. “In these months of work, I put all my knowledge into practice and I have the opportunity to learn new things every day with other colleagues”, he says.
“Working with Hélder is a huge pleasure, because we can see that it is possible to do a good job in our own land without thinking about leaving our country”, he says.
For his part, Hélder Dias tells us about the challenges of realizing his dream of having his own company: “Managing my company is not easy, it’s a daily struggle that motivates me. During the day I am in the field and, at night, I am concerned with preparing the next day, where I must place each worker, how to better serve my customers… Being an entrepreneur is challenging and I love a challenge”.
Speaking of challenges, this young entrepreneur recalls one of his biggest challenges since he created tDCS: “I remember that, during the assembly of a specific air conditioner in a large national company, many people from the same profession as me tried to knock me down so that the service was poorly done, because they would have liked to be in my place, so I had to deal with many things and challenges to get the job done in the best way”.
To deal with these labor obstacles, Hélder says that he always tries to remain calm to perform the service and maintain his company’s brand.
“Whenever I have to face these challenges, I try to keep the maximum calm and serenity focused on my work until I finish, so that nothing gets out of control. As I am a karate practitioner, this helps me to maintain balance between the fluctuating moments of work”.
karate as meditation
Hélder Dias confesses that with the days running, between the construction sites, company and other services and tasks that his profession requires, at the end of the day, he has the practice of karate that renews his energy and serves as meditation.
“Many say it is tiring, because after a long day at work, training karate is not easy. But for me it’s a meditation and I forget about all the tiredness as I train”.
A passion that the young entrepreneur Hélder Dias gained over time and intends through ETCC, in the future, to be able to finance major competitions of this sport.
