Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cabo Verde hosts, from today to Friday, the 19th General Assembly of WATAF (West African Tax Administrations Forum) and the 5th High-Level Political Dialogue with representatives from several countries in the world.
The event, which seeks, in partnership with Member States, to align with the best international practices in matters of tax administration and define the appropriate instruments to combat money laundering, fraud, flight and tax evasion, constitutes, in the view of the national director of State revenues, a “favorable factor” for Cabo Verde.
Liza Vaz explained that it certainly means that the country is fulfilling all the conditions in terms of fiscal transparency, which is a fundamental component for strengthening the relationship and commitment among the countries, so that they can continue to benefit from technical training with that African organisation.
For her, the meeting essentially allows for the discussion of cross-cutting issues that are part of the range of challenges facing the tax administration, which is essential for determining the best strategies and laying the foundations for strengthening the protection mechanism with a view to a “more transparent, robust system” that is able to respond to these challenges.
