Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Institute of Sports and Youth expressed this Monday, in a note of condolence, its dismay at the “death of Ildo do Rosário, an emblematic and inspiring figure who left an extraordinary legacy in the development of volleyball” in Cape Verde.
“Ildo’s tireless dedication and burning passion for the sport were truly contagious, leaving an indelible mark on the Cape Verdean volleyball community. His vibrant energy and commitment to excellence served as an example for all of us”, notes the letter.
In this moment of mourning, this note of condolence reads, “we offer our most sincere condolences to Ildo’s family, friends and colleagues. May his visionary spirit and inspiring memory remain alive in our hearts, fueling our determination to continue honoring his legacy. Rest in peace, Ildo do Rosário.”
Ildo Emanuel do Rosário, 65 years old, born in São Vicente, was born on January 5, 1959, having studied at Liceu Ludgero Lima, where he practiced various sports, standing out in basketball in São Vicente and Cape Verde as one of the best players of their generation.
After finishing his secondary education, he went to São Nicolau, where he was a teacher and coach of the local Atlético.
Vagui completed his higher education in Cuba and, after his return, was placed in Santo Antão where he resided until his death and where he taught, at Escola Secundaria Suzete Delgado, the subjects of Physical Education and Artistic Education.
He is referred to as a sports activist who participated in the implementation and development of several sports in Santo Antão and was a football coach for the Rosariense and Beira-Mar clubs.
Victim of illness, Ildo do Rosário, also known as Vagui, died at Baptista de Sousa Hospital (HBS), in São Vicente and leaves behind a wife and four daughters.
