Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ministry of Health notified, this Sunday, three new infected and one recovered, after analysis of 152 samples.

The new cases – according to the Daily Bulletin of COVID-19, issued by the Ministry of Health – were identified in São Vicente (two) and Porto Novo, Santo Antão (one).

The recovered patient was discharged in Ribeira Grande (from Santo Antão), leaving 39 active cases throughout the Archipelago.

With this update, Cape Verde now accumulates 56,65 cases registered since the beginning of the Pandemic, of which 39 are active, 401 died from COVID-19 (43 deaths from other causes) and 55,573 recovered.

In order to mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Cape Verde, the Health Authorities appeal to people to continue to adhere to the Vaccination Campaign against the new Coronavirus, which is taking place throughout the country, so that everyone can be more protected as soon as possible.

They also reinforce that the Use of Face Masks in indoor spaces is now mandatory only in Health Establishments and Infrastructures – Public and Private – Day Care Centers and Elderly Homes (Public or Private), Prison Establishments and Collective Transport of Land, Air and Sea Passengers.

The practice of Hand Hygiene remains in force, in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

The first case of COVID-19 in Cape Verde was reported on March 19, 2020, in a 62-year-old Englishman, who was visiting Boa Vista Island.

Vaccination

With regard to Vaccination, until April 30, Cape Verde had already used 709 thousand and 77 (67.8 percent -%) Vaccines against COVID-19.

With the recent availability of the Definitive Data of the 2021 Census, it was possible to update the Vaccination Coverage Rates. Thus, 318 thousand 656 (97.8%) adults had already taken the Primera Dose; 275 thousand 270 (84.5%) of Adults had already been fully Vaccinated; and a total of 67 thousand 850 (20.8%) had already taken the Booster Dose (also called Third Dose).

In relation to Adolescents, a total of 45 thousand 803 (85.2%) had already taken the First Dose (until April 30th); while 37 thousand 918 (70.5%) were already fully vaccinated.
