Africa-Press – Cape verde. In August of this year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a monthly variation rate of 0.2%, increasing 0.3 percentage points (p.p.) compared to the previous month, according to the results released today by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to the results released by the INE, the accumulated inflation rate up to August was 1.0%, lower than that recorded in the same period in 2023. In year-on-year terms, inflation stood at 1.0%, slowing down 0.6 p.p. compared to the previous month, showing a moderation in the pace of price increases compared to last year.
With regard to the average variation over the last 12 months, the CPI pointed to a rate of 1.2%, slightly lower than that of July 2024, which stood at 1.3%.
The underlying inflation indicator, which excludes volatile prices such as energy and unprocessed food, recorded a year-on-year change of 0.9% in August, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points compared to July.
