Africa-Press – Cape verde. The selection of São Vicente was crowned, this Saturday, champion of the first edition of the Inter-ilhas Futsal Cup’2022. The São Vicente team beat the São Nicolau team by 2-1 in the extra time of the final game played at the Vavá Duarte pavilion, in Praia.
This final was decided in extra time as the 1-1 tie remained until the end of regular time.
The selection of São Nicolau opened the scoring at three minutes through Márcio, but, in the 25th minute, São Vicente ended up tying the match through Borache, a result with which it reached extra time.
To reach the final, the two teams beat, on Thursday, the 13th, their counterparts in Sal and the island of Santiago, respectively. The São Vicente beat the Salenses by 4-2, in the kicks of great personalities, after a 1-1 draw during the regular 40 minutes.
In the second semifinal, São Nicolau beat Santiago Island, the host team, by 1-0, in a match in which the goalkeeper from Sanicolaus Matchona was the “man of the game”.
Sal team wins third place
In the match for the third place match of the Inter-ilhas Futsal Cup’2022, also held this Saturday night, at the “Vavá Duarte” Sports Gym, Sal’s team got the better of its counterpart in Santiago, winning the match by 5-3.
Movement “Together for the officialization of Futsal in Cape Verde”
The competition, promoted by the movement “Together for the officialization of Futsal in Cape Verde”, had been taking place since October 8th at the Vavá Duarte Sports Pavilion in Praia.
The nine participating teams are divided into three groups. Santiago, Boa Vista and Maio formed part of Group A. São Nicolau, São Vicente and Brava shared group B, while teams from Sal, Santo Antão and Fogo formed group C.
The winner of each group and the best runner-up qualified for the semi-finals.
Created on July 16, 2021, the movement “Together for the officialization of Futsal in Cape Verde” aims to raise awareness among young people to practice the sport, as well as contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
