Africa-Press – Cape verde. The number of subscriptions to the Internet Access Service decreased by approximately 5% in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the previous period. Compared to the same period of 2021, there was a decrease of 3%.

This data was released this Thursday, 12, by the Multisectoral Regulatory Agency for the Economy (ARME), according to which the total number of subscriptions to the internet access service was 444,590, of which 88% was provided by Mobile Broadband technology SmallScreen .

78 hits per 100 inhabitants

“Thus, the penetration rate of the Internet Access Service is around 78 accesses per 100 inhabitants, at the end of the third quarter of 2022, which represents a variation of 1.93 percentage points (pp) and 0 -.06 pp compared to the second quarter of 2022 and third quarter of 2021, respectively.

With regard to market shares for internet access service subscriptions, CVMóvel holds the highest share, representing 55.36%, followed by Unitel T+ with 40.13% and CVMultimédia with 4.5%.

However, when compared to the second quarter of 2022, says ARME, the shares of CVMóvel and CVMultimédia decreased by 7.50 pp and 1.29 pp respectively, while that of Unitel T+ increased by 8.8 pp

Active SIM cards with slight decrease

In Mobile Network Services, the total number of active SIM cards on the market in September 2022 was 577,582, which represents a slight decrease of 0.73% and 1.5% compared to the second quarter of 2022 and the same period in 2021, respectively.

Fixed telephony increased

The ARME report also reports a number of 54,787 fixed telephone service subscribers, corresponding to a penetration rate of 10 accesses per 100 inhabitants.

This represents a 2% increase compared to the second quarter of 2022.
