Africa-Press – Cape verde. The team from Escola de Futebol Interzonas do Sal (EFIZ) is the new national under-17 football champion after winning, in the final, the Batuque de São Vicente, by two balls to one, at João Serra stadium, in Ponta do Sol, Saint Anthony.
Batuque do Mindelo entered the game with greater possession of the ball, and in the 20th minute of the first half, Russe opened the scoring.
According to Inforpress, 83 minutes into the match, the EFIZ team through Txuni tied the match at 1 – 1.
The turnaround came later in the 88th minute when Marcelo scored the second goal for EFIZ which dictated the result of the match at 2 – 1.
The EFIZ coach, Gui, considered that “it was not easy” to achieve victory, but “the team was always confident”.
“In the first half we were a little nervous and we couldn’t play our game. But when my players managed to get into the game I immediately saw that we would win”, he congratulated.
In turn, the coach of Batuque, Bruno Fortes, stressed that “despite the frustration”, he accepted the defeat with sportsmanship.
“It’s frustrating, because we dominated the game from start to finish, we made mistakes and our opponents took advantage. Anyway, that’s football, now head up for us to work for next year God willing,” he said.
