Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, José Maria Neves, acknowledged on Tuesday that “there are many” Cabo Verdeans in a situation of vulnerability in Angola, arguing that their documentation could help to ensure the situation is relieved.

This recognition was made in statements to the press after a meeting with the Cabo Verdean community in Luanda, where the Head of State heard the concerns of the children of the islands living in Angola, and it was the dominant issue the poverty and the lack of documentation.

José Maria Neves said after listening to Cabo Verdeans living in Angola there is a common effort between Cabo Verde and Angola to seek solutions to the problems related to documentation.

“The Angolan government will be able to take further steps to allow and facilitate access to documentation by Cabo Verdeans who have been here since the 1940s or earlier, and precisely because of this, in the coming opportunities, the Angolan Government will announce the limits of this decision,” he added.
