Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Center for Art, Crafts and Design (CNAD) opened the Nhô Damásio Research Center and Library in São Vicente, the first space for research and investigation specializing in art and culture in Cape Verde.

The opening of the space is part of the celebrations of the first anniversary of the inauguration of the new CNAD facilities.

According to the president of CNAD, Artur Marçal, quoted by Inforpress, the space brings “another leverage” to the institution from the point of view of research, art and culture and also from the physical and digital point of view.

Worldwide coverage

This is because, in addition to the digitization of works, the library is associated with some libraries abroad, which allows it to have a worldwide coverage on themes and issues surrounding art and culture.

Among them are the Gulbenkian library and the Museum of Ethnology in Lisbon.

The choice of name – Nhô Damásio, is a way of immortalizing another figure who was at the origin of the project for the former Centro Nacional de Artesanato (CNA), through the founding group, whose pedagogical action was to bring great masters from other islands to give training at the center.
