Africa-Press – Cape verde. The AAssociation of Communications and Telecommunications Regulators of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (ARCTEL-CPLP), meeting in Cabo Verde, at the 14th general meeting, will discuss free roaming in the CPLP.
Speaking to the press, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Multisectoral Regulatory Agency for the Economy (ARME), Isaías Barreto da Rosa, said that during the meeting will be analyzed management instruments, as well as sharing experiences and perspective for the ARCTEL-CPLP future.
“During the meeting we will present the results of the various working groups, namely the working group on roaming in the CPLP. Cabo Verde is driving the idea of having free roaming at community level as was done at ECOWAS level,” he said, highlighting the participation of the African Telecommunications Union, the Universal Postal Union and the International Telecommunications Union.
As for the idea of having free roaming at CPLP level, Isaías Barreto da Rosa, despite considering it to be a challenging process due to the involvement of nine countries, located on four continents, and each country with its specificities from the legal and regulatory point of view, stressed that it can gradually reach what is intended.
