Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Municipal Assembly was meeting this Monday in an extraordinary session to assess the proposed law to create a special economic zone which deserved favorable votes from the MpD (ruling party) and PAICV (opposition party).
In justifying the vote in favor, the spokesman for the the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV) bench, Jovino Gomes, assured that this political force could not remain indifferent on this proposed law that will contribute to “catapult” the island to another level of development, since it will enable the creation of several jobs on the island.
However, Jovino Gomes said that his bench leaves a recommendation both to the Municipal Assembly, to the City Hall and the central government itself to share this information with the population, when this bill gets the approval from the National Assembly’s MPs and comes into force effectively as law, so that the citizens of Maio can be prepared for this new reality that is intended for island in the coming years.
“The proposal did not reach in our hands in advance so that we could analyze and prepare in a more convenient way, but as it was only for consideration, so we generally appreciated the measures that essentially can bring benefits to the island, so we voted in favor of the proposal presented,” he said.
