The failure that occurred in one of the highest power groups at the Palmarejo Power Station, and which had been causing frequent electricity cuts on the island of Santiago, was resolved this Sunday, September 10th. In a statement, Electra thanks the “patience and understanding” of the people of Santiago and apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
The electricity production and distribution company – Electra, reported this Sunday that the fault that, in recent weeks, had been forcing power cuts in several locations on the island of Santiago has now been resolved.
This, according to him, after having made every financial effort to bring two “fundamental and extremely important members of the group” from abroad.

“It was hard work and without rest, even at night, by Electra’s engineers and technicians”, he highlighted, indicating that, due to the complexity of the electrical energy area, breakdowns could occur at any time.
Furthermore, he says, due to rain and adverse weather conditions, there has been damage to electrical infrastructures such as poles and transformers, nationwide, which has caused some occasional cuts in the supply of electrical energy.
“We take this opportunity to thank Cape Verdeans for all their patience and understanding, in particular those from Santiago, and to apologize, once again, for the inconvenience caused”, reads the statement issued this Sunday.
