Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of Santa Cruz, Carlos Silva, today contested the last place in the study on the Territorial Cohesion Rate (ICT) 2023, which allows to evaluate the performance of each municipality in the context of national development.
Speaking to Inforpress, the mayor, in addition to contesting the classification attributed in this study carried out by the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion, in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics (INE), questioned the criteria used in the same that attributed to the municipality the ICT value of 69, 8 points – last place in the ranking of least developed municipalities.
“We, honestly, do not know very well the criteria [used to measure the ICT ], however, we assume that the intention is good, taking into account that it is to measure, especially the Territorial Cohesion Index, but we know that they were evaluated three dimensions: social, economic and territorial”, stressed the mayor.
He recognized, however, that this Santiago municipality, due to its territorial size, is “quite disadvantaged”, but contested the assessment made in relation to the social and economic aspects, which also places the municipality in the tail.
