Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of Brava defended, this Thursday, 7th, the need for the Kriola ship to remain in the port of Furna during the weekend, for “security reasons”, and to be able to respond to emergency cases.
Francisco Tavares was speaking to the press, reacting to a set of comments and requests from the Brava population about the new scale of travel to and from the island, which leaves Brava without calls for about three consecutive days.
As the mayor said, at the moment, what can be done is to show solidarity with the population, with this further constraint that all economic operators, passengers and possible visitors to Brava are suffering, with the new travel calendar of CV InterIlhas , and which, for two consecutive weeks, they failed to comply.
“The schedule provides for a boat entry on Monday night and departure on Tuesday at 8:00 am, but it has not been fulfilled for two weeks, which means that people enter Brava on Saturday on the Praia d ‘Aguada, around 12:00 pm and you have to leave at 4:00 pm, on the same boat, or you will only be able to leave Brava at 8:00 am on Wednesday”, explained the mayor.
big embarrassmentA situation that the mayor considers to be a “very big embarrassment”, stressing that the fact that the new voyage schedule with Praia d’Aguada, replacing the Interilhas ship, intertwining with the Kriola voyages, does not foresee the departure of Brava, and its entry on Monday is “highly penalizing” for economic operators, mainly in the area of tourism.
“There are several people who want to come to Brava on Friday and leave on Monday, but it is not possible to leave Brava on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, which are several consecutive days, making it difficult for Brava residents to resolve a situation in Fogo or Praia, ending up only staying on Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays for that”, he exemplified.
In this sense, it appeals to the company to review the calendar “as urgently as possible”, so that the Kriola can enter Brava on Saturday, remain in the port of Furna, and on Sunday, too, for emergency reasons, and leave the port. Brave on Monday.
