Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Volunteer Firefighters of Mértola will donate an ambulance to their counterparts in São Vicente, with the support of the Rotary Club of Sines, and the Sousa Group. The signing ceremony of the cooperation protocol between the three entities took place yesterday at the Embassy of Cape Verde in Portugal.

The donation takes place within the scope of the “Criar Sorrisos em Mindelo” project, promoted by the Rotary Club of Sines, which aims to support needy populations in Mindelo.

The ambulance is intended to increase the intervention capacity of this local rescue force in responding to emergency situations, in order to contribute to improving the quality of life of the population of Mindelo, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Health Quality), 10 (Reduce Inequalities) and 17 (Partnerships).

Facilitate shipping and delivery

In this context, the Sousa Group will ensure, through its owner GS LINES, the maritime transport of the ambulance between Portugal and Cape Verde, while the Rotary Club of Mindelo, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Sines, will deliver the ambulance to the Fire Department of São Vincent.

The signing of the protocol was attended by Ana Rita Cruz, President of the Rotary Club of Sines, Maria do Céu Pinto de Andrade, President of the Board of the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Mértola, and Pedro Amaral Frazão, Administrator of the Sousa Group.

The Rotary Club of Sines is a non-profit club that serves the local and world community, which actively contributes to humanitarian projects, including in Cape Verde.
