Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Justice on Tuesday highlighted the “important” role the OACV plays in improving the sector and announced the strengthening of cooperation with the Bar Association for the provision of legal assistance and legal information.
Joana Rosa made these statements on the sidelines of a visit she made today to the facilities of the Cabo Verde Bar Association (OACV), in the city of Praia, and stressed the meeting served to address various issues related to the justice sector in Cabo Verde.
One of the issues that deserved to be highlighted, according to the Government, has to do with the issue of legal aid, whose provision is guaranteed by the State to people in situations of social vulnerability so that everyone can have access to justice.
“We have legal aid provided at the moment, the Bar Association does somewhat control, we have been discussing the need to strengthen monitoring mainly to trainee lawyers, who provide legal assistance and in this way the lawyer senior will have to follow up so that we can guarantee the people who need it better services”, she said, stating that the Government’s intention is to extend legal aid to the various municipalities in the country.
