Minister of Culture presides over the opening of the "Peace: How It's Made" training course on Fogo Island.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, the “Peace How It’s Made” project was created with the purpose of empowering and sensitizing Cape Verdean society to the importance of dialogue, conflict resolution, and mutual respect as pillars of harmonious coexistence.

Inspired by successful UNESCO initiatives, this intervention integrates peace education as an essential mechanism for sustainable development and social cohesion.

The same source explains that similar programs have already demonstrated positive results in countries such as Brazil, Mozambique, and Costa Rica, strengthening the culture of peace and civic engagement.

Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, through the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CNU), in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC), conducted training sessions on the islands of São Vicente and Santiago, covering 12 secondary schools, 28 teachers, and 150 students in the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades.

In São Filipe, the training will take place from January 31st to February 7th and will include approximately 30 trainees, encompassing students from the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, as well as teachers.
