Africa-Press – Cape verde. Minister Janine Lélis expressed “a lot of enthusiasm” today when inaugurating the military health center, at the Morro Branco Instruction Center, in São Vicente, which she classified as a “great bet” for the reinforcement of military instruction.

The holder of the National Defense portfolio stated, on the occasion, that this is yet another initiative with the ambition of improving the conditions of access to health services upon entry to the training center and during the period of stay in the Armed Forces, and which occurs after the approval and entry into force of the new table of psychophysical profiles and unfitness for mandatory military service.

From today, the minister congratulated, with this new space, the improvements and equipment introduced, the Morro Branco Military Instruction Center sees its capacity to act in terms of military health, to provide better basic nursing care reinforced. and general clinic consultations.

The new thing is that the military health center, according to Janine Lélis, and since the Armed Forces are an institution that is at the service of the Nation, will also be for the local community of Lazareto, being ready to support, collaborate and serve everyone who is in its vicinity needs it.

“It will be another health structure placed at the service of the Health System on the island of São Vicente to bring basic care closer to the local population, thus shortening the time and distance to access health”, said the minister, which announced protocols between the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Health and, in particular, with the island’s health structures.

Finally, Janine Lélis assured that the Government will continue to work according to priorities and budget to carry out improvement works in other military regions, as is the case with the project to build an infirmary in the 3rd Military Region Command, in island of Santiago, and whose budget “is already available”.

Information provided by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Rear Admiral António Duarte Monteiro, present at the inauguration, indicates that the center cost 18 thousand contos, of which 15 thousand were allocated to the construction of the infrastructure and three thousand invested in its equipment, amount coming from the State Budget, approved by the Ministry of National Defense.

The center’s total construction area is 283 square meters and includes a waiting room, triage room, stretcher and wheelchair area, two medical offices, infirmary, male boarding room, female boarding room, two lockers, two bathrooms, kitchen and dining room.

Currently, the Morro Branco Instruction Center has a contingent of 317 recruits undergoing training, four of which are women, who will have to swear the Oath to the Flag next May.

This is the first incorporation of the year 2024 and occurs a few months after the approval and entry into force of the new table of psychophysical profiles and unfitness for mandatory military service.
