The protocol was signed today by the Minister of Culture, Abraão Vicente, and by the mentors of the Mindel Summer Jazz project, Pedro Monteiro and Alexandre Novais, an occasion that the official took the opportunity to recall that this is the maximum amount through which his ministry has financed all cultural events in Cabo Verde.
However, Abraão Vicente said he believed that Mindel Summer Jazz should also be financed through the Tourism Fund, given the public pressure to give shelter to what is the legitimate desire of the festival, that is, to be financed as an event that promotes the destination. Cabo Verde and the destination of São Vicente as one of the platforms for culture and the promotion of Cape Verdean culture.
“The Mindel Summer Jazz is one of the highlights of the summer in São Vicente with an organization of excellence, which has brought to Cabo Verde names that, outside this context, it would not be possible to bring”, praised Abraão Vicente, for whom it is a moment of valuing the island and jazz as part of the music and idiosyncrasy of the city of Mindelo itself.
