Ministry of the Sea finances the School of Swimming and Water Rescue project

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ministry of the Sea signed a partnership agreement with ENAFSALVA – “Nhô Fula” Swimming and Water Rescue School, in São Vicente, to train citizens in theoretical and practical knowledge of prevention and survival swimming in the aquatic environment. The school’s project is structured in three phases and will also support the inclusion of underprivileged groups in the swimming teaching/learning process.

In addition to supporting the inclusion of underprivileged people in the teaching/learning process of swimming as the main instrument of prevention and survival, the project, now signed with the “Nhô Fula” school, also intends to contribute to the reduction of drowning accidents, through teaching of preventive swimming and, in the future, “professionalize” the figure of the swimming instructor.

The project, according to a statement from the ministry, is structured in three phases, in a first phase, which runs from July to September of the current year, 60 needy children in the Host Houses will benefit and be integrated into the teaching and learning process of swimming. .

Swimming trials and instructor training

The second phase, scheduled for the month of August, includes swimming competitions at Praia da Laginha, in São Vicente.

The third and final phase, to be held in October, will focus on training sports/preventive and rescue swimming instructors.
