Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries announced this Thursday that the Mobile Library project is already in the implementation phase, and the acquisition process for the first vehicle, which should arrive in the country soon, is complete, according to Inforpress.
Augusto Veiga made this announcement in Praia during a press conference presenting five annual literary awards to recognize original works of high quality in the genres of children’s and young adult literature, poetry, short stories, and novels.
“Another project promoted by the Government of Cape Verde, whose implementation is underway, is the Mobile Library project, as the acquisition process for the first vehicle is complete and it should arrive soon,” the minister stated.
The minister added that the vehicle was acquired last year and is on its way to Cape Verde, adding that the Government intends to acquire a new vehicle this year, within the current budget.
In this way, the country will have two mobile libraries, one in Sotavento and the other in Barlavento, allowing them to reach all the islands and municipalities of the archipelago by sea.
The intention, according to Augusto Veiga, is to strengthen access to books and reading throughout the national territory.
