Monasteries: Chamber promotes the 4th edition of Africa Week with tribute to personalities from the African community

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Municipal Chamber of Mosteiros will pay tribute to some personalities from the African community living in the municipality as part of the activities to celebrate Africa Day , which is celebrated on the 25th of May.

For the fourth edition of Semana d’África , which runs from the 21st to the 25th of May, in addition to paying homage to personalities from the African community residing in the Monasteries and who have contributed to its development, there is the African fair which has as its stage the Azambuja Square, in the center of the city of Igreja.

The program for the first day of Africa Week highlights the opening of the African fair, but also the holding of a lecture “Museums, education and research” , aiming to raise awareness among civil society of the importance of museums as a fundamental means of exchange and enrichment of cultures, development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace between peoples.

The holding of the third edition of the Futsal Friendship Cup, the lecture on the theme “Pan-Africanism in the thoughts of Amílcar Cabral”, the “Sabores de África” gastronomic fair, traditional games are other activities scheduled within the framework of the IV edition of the Semana d’ Africa in the municipality of Mosteiros.

The fourth edition of Semana d’África is promoted by the Monasteries chamber to mark Africa Day in partnership with the Association of African Immigrants residing in the Monasteries and aims to encourage the civic participation of the African immigrant community, social, cultural and sports as well as promoting local culture and immigrant communities.
