Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ministry of Health received today in Praia, from the Kingdom of Morocco, a quantity of oncological medicines, estimated at around 35 thousand contos, to reinforce the “quality of life of patients”, Filomena Gonçalves.
These are new medicines that, according to the Minister of Health, Filomena Gonçalves, did not exist in Cape Verde and that will make “a lot of difference”, providing a better quality of life for cancer patients, he said.
“These are new medicines that have recently come into use and are still highly sought after on the international market, cutting-edge medicines that will make all the difference, giving back more life expectancy”, highlighted the minister.
The minister assured that they will be working to ensure that patients have access to these medicines, justifying that, with this donation, they will also be reducing evacuations which, in addition to monetary costs, have social costs.
“But we also have to look at the economic impact this has. Because the costs of medicines, in the form that the Government has is direct financing, at the level of the State Budget so that we can guarantee the medicines and this value will be impacting in some way on the package that we have in terms of availability to purchase medicines. ”, declared Filomena Gonçalves.
For the Minister of Health, the donation of medicines from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Kingdom of Morocco means a reinforcement of cooperation and partnership between the two countries, stressing that it is just the beginning of a process that has been ongoing, under the mixed cooperation agreement that was signed.
According to advisor Adil Khlifi, representing the Kingdom of Morocco, this is a symbolic gesture and an occasion that allows the beginning of a new bilateral relationship between the two peoples
