Africa-Press – Cape verde. One of the main streets in the city of Igreja (Mosteiros) will be named after Carlos Fernandinho Teixeira in honor of the mayor who dedicated 24 years to the cause of the municipality of Mosteiros, 18 of which as mayor.

Mosteiros: Chamber will name one of the streets in the city of Igreja after Carlos Fernandinho Teixeira. The decision to honor Carlos Fernandinho Teixeira, who died on October 28, 2022, was taken by the municipal council at its 14th ordinary meeting, but the proposal will be submitted to the Municipal Assembly next December for approval.

With the council’s decision, the street in front of the Paços do Concelho building, passing by the National Police station and the Municipal Entrepreneurship Office and Avenida Laranjo is now called Rua Fernandinho Teixeira in honor of the former mayor of Mosteiros .

Through its official page on social media, the Mosteiros Chamber indicates that a pilot project will soon be implemented in the city of Igreja in the field of toponymy, through the attribution of toponyms and numbering of buildings, and for its implementation a commission was created municipal place of toponymy that will function as a consultative body for the city council.

Carlos Fernandinho Teixeira, was born on February 12, 1960, in the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda (Mosteiros) and died on October 28, 2022 in the city of São Filipe.

He served as municipal elected official in the Municipality of Fogo (encompassing the three current municipalities) from 1991 to 1996.

With the creation of the municipality of Mosteiros, he joined the local team of his party (PAICV) which went on to win the first local elections in 1996, having been elected councilor and re-elected in 2000, serving as councilor for one and a half terms.

In 2002, he replaced Júlio Correia as president of the chamber, having been re-elected in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016.

In 2016 he was elected national deputy for the Fogo constituency, a mandate he was unable to fulfill, passing away before completing two years of his term.
