National Day of Culture and Communities celebrated under the motto “Culture for the Future”

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Day of Culture and Communities, annually celebrated on 18 October, will be celebrated this year under the motto “Culture for the Future”, with various cultural activities throughout the country.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, the motto “Culture for the Future”, chosen for the celebration of the event, “presents the vision of a vibrant cultural sector”.

“This motto helps Cape Verde to occupy a place on the global stage, due to the particularity of our history and the richness of our Creole culture born between the four continents”, he said.

The activities of the National Day of Culture and Communities, promoted in partnership with the Ministry of Communities, include a literature festival, international conference on the diaspora, exhibitions, gastronomic itineraries, musical moments, dance, among other activities.

Literary Festival 2022 honors Oswaldo Osório

The opening of the Literary Festival 2022 takes place on Monday, 17th, at 10:00 am, at the National Library of Cape Verde (BNCV), Várzea, Praia.

The event aims to promote dialogue between different generations of Cape Verdean writers and promote the national written and literary heritage.

At this festival, the Senator of Letters, Oswaldo Osório, will be honored for his invaluable services to Cape Verdean and Lusophone Literature.

“ (NO) GO! To Pasargada” by Djam Neguin

Also for the celebrations of the National Day of Culture and Communities, the multifaceted artist Djam Neguin will present on Monday, 17, in the auditorium of Palácio da Cultura Ildo Lobo, in Praia, the performance “unpublished and authorial multimedia” entitled “( I WILL NOT GO! To Pasargada”

Several other activities are scheduled at county level, all over the country.

Anniversary has been celebrated since 2005

Cape Verde has celebrated the National Day of Culture and Communities since 2005, to remember the patron of Cape Verdean culture, the poet, writer and journalist Eugénio Tavares, who was born on October 18, 1867 on the island of Brava. Since then, the event has been marked with various cultural activities carried out at national level.
