The Parliament unanimously approved in the plenary session this Thursday, 28, the project that decrees 1 February as National Day of Talaia Baixo. For the Mayor of São Filipe, Nuías Silva, “this approval is also a good gift for São Filipe, for and for the island of Fogo”.
On the other hand, he says that the recognition of this musical genre “very appreciated at a national level, of Fogo origin” is a way of honoring its composers and performers.
“The São Filipe City Council, when requested by the national Parliament, about its opinion for this project, which has now been approved, we were not afraid to immediately give our positive opinion, so we are satisfied with its approval” , he said.
After the approval of the bill establishing the National Day of Talaia Baixo, unanimously in Parliament, the 1st of February will become the day dedicated to this musical genre.
