Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Deputy Prime Minister for Youth and Sports, Carlos Monteiro, asked yesterday, at the opening of the National Youth Forum, in Maio, that “special attention” be given to social entrepreneurship and more visibility in this layer.
“Há muita gente que faz um trabalho de empreendedorismo social forte, mas que não tem visibilidade e, se calhar, tem menos acesso às oportunidades, e nós queremos mudar isso”, afirmou, acrescentando que o Governo está a finalizar o diploma do voluntariado, que deverá ser uma realidade no próximo ano.
The head of the Youth and Sports portfolio also promised “very special” attention to the program to empower youth associations, in what is social entrepreneurship, an issue that, moreover, should be debated at the forum in which more than a hundred young people participate. , residing in the country and in the diaspora, in person and ‘online’.
Greater proximity to decision makers
The creation of this forum, according to Carlos Monteiro, essentially aims to create a space where young people can openly debate any topic that impacts their lives, arguing that young people need to be closer to political decision-makers, both central and local and international partners.
He also said that the initiative favors contacts with businessmen, social activists and entrepreneurs in the various sectors, stressing that in the end there are always recommendations to be applied.
The forum, which takes place on the island of Maio, has the presence of about 120 young people, between 15 and 35 years old, residing in the country and in the diaspora, in person and ‘online’, will feature testimonials from renowned athletes international, examples from the world of music, creative industries and sports.
