Africa-Press – Cape verde. Singer and songwriter Nelson Freitas has just released his new EP “Waves”, with three new songs, including “Jungle Fever”, released on February 14th. The new EP is now available on all digital platforms and includes a documentary that follows the entire creative process, also available today on his official YouTube page.

According to Sony Music, this EP is a work that reflects the artistic evolution and the fusion of influences that have always marked Nelson Freitas’ sound. “This EP showcases the singer and songwriter’s musical versatility, navigating between different styles and rhythms”.

The same source highlights that the inspiration for “Waves” came from a special writing camp held at White Pearl Resorts, in Mozambique, where Nelson Freitas and a team of talented Mozambican composers got together to create music in a unique and immersive environment.

About this experience, Nelson Freitas says in the same note that he decided to return to Mozambique, “to the incredible White Pearl Resorts”, a place that has won him over before with its unique energy.

“This time, it wasn’t just about relaxing, it was about creating! We set up three studios in three cabins and together we produced eight soulful songs. On my new EP Waves, which features three of these songs, each sound reflects this unforgettable journey,” he says.

According to the same source, each track on “Waves” has different producers who gave the EP their own identity. “Jungle Fever” was produced by Lobo Mau, with melodies and lyrics by Nelson Freitas, Marcus Luis Filomena, Nelson Dinis Uqueio and Bashir Issa.

“Só Sodadi”, which features the participation of Twenty Fingers and Teo no Beat, was produced by the latter and lyrics written by Nelson Freitas, Marcus Luis Filomena, Nelson Dinis Uqueio and Bashir Issa.

“Wavy”, a collaboration between Nelson Freitas, Mark Exodus and DJ Tarico, was produced by DJ Tarico, with Nelson Freitas and Marcus Luis Filomena responsible for the composition.

“The mixing was done by Carlos Juvandes and Janga, while the mastering was done by Darius Van Helfteren and Janga,” he assures.

In addition to the release of “Waves”, Nelson Freitas takes to the stage at Coliseu dos Recreios, on April 4th, to celebrate his 25-year career. In this concert, Nelson Freitas will revisit the greatest hits of his career, while also presenting the songs from the new EP.
