Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Health, Filomena Gonçalves, today inaugurated the new members of the Board of Directors of the Agostinho Neto University Hospital. In statements to the press, the government official states that this is a normal management act.
Upon taking office, Hirondina Vaz Borges Spencer joins the Board of Directors, as first member and Clinical Director; Dulce Eneia Varela da Silva as Superintendent Nurse and second Executive Member and Mário Elísio Sena Semedo assumes the role of fourth non-executive Member.
“We believe that the team, not individually, will continue to work so that we have more and more excellence in the services we provide, so that we have more and more humanization in the health sector. We know that health is a sector under permanent construction and it is normal to have management actions, the important thing is that we have health professionals in a cohesive, dedicated way, but, I want to emphasize here, that we also have to take care of those who care” , declared the minister.
For the Minister, the inauguration of the new members of the HUAN Administration represents a renewal of the commitment “to health excellence” and dedication to the humanization of the care provided.
Gonçalves, when talking about health professionals, emphasizes that it is important to “take care of those who take care of us”.
“And it is based on this that we have a set of measures to continue providing more and better conditions to our professionals. When I say more and better conditions, I am not just talking about remuneration issues, but in relation to intangible assets because healthcare professionals deserve the attention and affection of all of us”, he concludes.
Urged by journalists to talk about the dengue situation in the country, Filomena Gonçalves says “at the moment we have an average of one or two cases per day, our challenge is to actually eliminate dengue in Cape Verde, we have been able to control it and we believe that taking into account the state we are in in terms of epidemiological surveillance, we will be able to confine and we will be eliminating soon, but we cannot let our guard down”, he stressed.
