Africa-Press – Cape verde. French President Emmanuel Macron announced wedensday that the new French strategy in Africa will be finalized within six months, after consultations with his partners, confirming the end of the Barkhane counter-terrorist operation.
” We will launch in the coming days a phase of exchanges with our African partners, our allies and regional organizations to jointly develop the status, format and missions of the current French military bases in the Sahel and West Africa” , said Macron.
When presenting the new French defense strategy, in Toulon (southern France), Emmanuel Macron announced that it “will be finalized within six months”.
“This strategy will be finalized within six months (…). It is essential and is one of the consequences that we have drawn from what we have experienced in recent years throughout the Sahel region”, he explained.
