
Africa-Press – Cape verde. Governmental Organization (NGO) Lantuna requested the policy makers’ involvement and other entities in the effective management of the Natural Park of Inferno Bay and Monte Angra (PNBIMA) recognizing, however, the Government’s support in this regard.
The executive director of the NGO Lantuna, Ana Veiga, made this speech to the press after being received in a hearing by the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, to whom she presented the project of the first marine protected area of Santiago Island that aims at biodiversity conservation.
She explained that in 2013 the Lantuna Association began the project of working on biodiversity conservation with community involvement and in 2014 began with the preparation of conservation actions.
He said that throughout this year they were working with the support of the communities of Porto Mosquito, Rincão and Entre Picos de Reda, but also with the Government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, whose partnership allowed the approval of the proposal that declares the first marine protected area in Santiago whose territory is 83 percent (%) marine.
