Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Business Development and Minister of Digital Economy, Olavo Correia, is in Washington, United States of America, participating in the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The objective is to strengthen cooperation with Cape Verde’s development partners.

The trip, which began this Monday and runs until the 16th, will be used to strengthen cooperation with Cape Verde’s Development partners, namely the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Bank African Development Bank (ADB), the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), the Kuwait Fund, Saudi Fund, Import-Export Bank of China, Africa 50, Africa Finance Corporation, among other entities.

According to a note from the Government, Olavo Correia must also establish contacts with various financial institutions and companies, with a view to presenting the priority areas for investments in Cape Verde, which are included in the new National Strategic Plan.

188 member countries

The BM/IMF annual meetings bring together finance ministers and central bank governors from the 188 member countries, private sector executives, representatives of civil society organizations and academics.

It aims to debate issues of global economic importance, including the economic worldview, poverty eradication, economic development and development aid effectiveness.

The Cape Verdean delegation, headed by Olavo Correia, also includes the Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy, Alexandre Monteiro.
