Africa-Press – Cape verde. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Olavo Correia said Sunday that the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP) should be “flat” and a space of mobility and free movement between people and goods.
As he stated, everyone must now do their part in order to create conditions and agreements to avoid double taxation in all CPLP States and, at the same time, to create the conditions for reciprocal investment protection, which will allow capital to move freely between countries, both physical, financial and cultural.
During a conference organized by the Economists Association of Portugal in Maio, which focused on the theme “Portugal, Lusophony and the global economy” and “Portugal’s responsibility in the integration of CPLP countries in Europe and the world”, Olavo Correia addressed the need for the creation of an investment bank and a CPLP development bank.
“It is essential the CPLP has the tools to promote the acceleration of the development dynamics in member countries and without this we will be left without an instrument in relation to the dynamics of inclusive growth and development throughout the CPLP,” he stressed, stressing that he believes this should already be on the CPLP’s political agenda.
