Orlando Delgado says development of Santo Antão will only be possible with the construction of the airport

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of Ribeira Grande, Orlando Delgado, considered Tuesday that the development of Santo Antão will only be possible with the construction of the airport.

“We want to go hand in hand, step by step with the development of the country, and this will only be possible with the construction of the airport, being effectively important for us to generate jobs and allow young people to have opportunities here in Santo Antão” he stated.

Orlando Delgado, who spoke during the solemn session commemorating Municipality Day, said that as long as the island does not have the airport to “enhance” development, “all the work the City Halls have done is actually mitigate development.”

As for the development of the municipality of Ribeira Grande, the Mayor stressed that the assessment is “highly positive” and considered that many challenges in the county were overcome such as basic, secondary, professional education, access to water supply, sports and social infrastructure, urban requalification of cities and access to energy 24 hours a day.
