Africa-Press – Cape verde. The deputy of the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition), Carla Carvalho, today accused the Government of being complicit in “covering up the harmful management” of Ficase managers and “ normalize corruption” in Cabo Verde.
The member of the PAICV Political Committee made these accusations at a press conference to comment on the audit by the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) of the management of the Cape Verdean Foundation for Social and School Action (Ficase), relating to the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The General Inspectorate of Finance, indicated, highlighted a series of irregularities and illegalities, the violation of the basic law on the budget and public accounting and several cases of cover-ups of administrative and financial offenses by Ficase, “covered up by the Government”.
“The PAICV denounces yet another case of harmful management of public resources, bringing in this opportunity the case of the management of funds made available to Ficase between 2017 and 2019, reported by the IGF in an inspection report approved by the Minister of Finance in 2022 and only published last August of the current year, around 16 months after approval”, declared Carla Carvalho
