Rosa Rocha, who spoke at the opening of the political year in Santo Antão, said that Elisa Pinheiro, current president of the Regional Political Committee of this party on this island, is PAICV’s choice to lead the team that will contest the next municipal elections in the municipality of Porto New.
The vice-president of PAICV and national deputy elected by Santo Antão understands that the current municipal executive, led by Aníbal Fonseca, “no longer has anything left to give to Porto Novo ”, a municipality that, in her view, needs “ a new leadership ”.
For Rosa Rocha, PAICV has “all the conditions ” to win the elections in all municipalities of Santo Antão, praising the “ excellent work ” that the regional and local structures of this party have done in Santo Antão with a view to winning the municipal elections .
He said that PAICV wants to win the elections in Santo Antão next year in order to win the legislative elections in 2026, considering that, with “ unity” , this party can achieve all the proposed objectives.
For Elisa Pinheiro, “ PAICV has an obligation to win the local and legislative elections ” so that “ Santo Antão can resume the pace of infrastructure to which it was accustomed” .
The president of PAICV, Rui Semedo, said that the party has the “ goal of being the majority party at municipal level ” in Cape Verde in 2024, considering this purpose “ possible ” which, in his view, is “ comparable to capabilities ” of this political force.
Rui Semedo left “ the challenge ” to the PAICV structures to start, “ from today ”, preparing next year’s local elections, promising “ great candidates and great teams ” in all municipalities “ that deserve trust and that renew the hopes of Cape Verdeans”
